ESTRANGED: EPISODE 14

“Including me? Wait… Ana… Including me? Ana I’m your husband for crying out loud!”

“I was confused and I was afraid… I was afraid that you’d change towards me should you realize that I don’t remember anything: not even any memory with you or the love we share. I was afraid that I’d be insecure. Please…”

“God! This can’t be!” Rick said repeatedly as he paced.

For about 10 minutes nobody said a word. Rick was still in shock, and Ana continued to sob.  She was scared the more wondering what would happen afterwards. Rick as well realized how difficult it was going to be as they would feel like strangers though they’re husband and wife.

 Later Rick went to his wife and held her. “Ana… It’s okay… it’s okay” he said almost in tears.

“See. I’m here okay? I’m here! When we took the wedding vows I took you as my wife, for better and for worse, to love and to hold…till death do us part… It’s okay.”

“No it’s not! It’s not okay. I don’t know myself. I don’t know what it means to be a wife!  It’s not okay”

“Honey…It’s okay! God is going to see us through…You’re gonna recover! You will!”

“What if I don’t ever recover, Rick? What if I don’t?”

Rick started to get confused. “O okay so Mercy passed by?” 

“Yes. Your sister did” she struggled to say.

 
Rick still wasn’t understanding. 
“Wait… I don’t understand something. My sister passed by. You said my sister… Mercy passed by?”

“Uhm..Your sister passed by… is there a problem?”

“Ana….. Yaa is my sister. She just called to let me know that she passed by and spoke with you briefly yesterday. Mercy is my friend. Mercy is actually out of the country. And you’re saying my sister Mercy passed by? But Yaa didn’t?”

 The stare Rick gave her made her drop her slice of bread. 

“Can you make me understand something here? You used warm water for your beverage this morning, that’s something you never do. You used sugar for my porridge instead of honey. You couldn’t remember where you keep your jewelry the last time. You’ve stopped calling me by my pet name… What is happening?”

Ana now was looking petrified and she just wished that she would disappear.

“You avoid any kind of intimacy now. You seemed so lost the last time Randy came around. You were asking about his wife whiles Randy isn’t even married yet… You got him cold water, but Randy actually doesn’t take cold water… You’ve… You’ve changed…”

ESTRANGED: EPISODE 11

Just when he was still trying to understand Ana’s new behavior he received a call from him sister. 

After a while of speaking with her, Yaa began to share something concerning Ana with him on phone.

Yaa: Bro, is your wife okay?

Rick: O yea. She is. Why?

Yaa: You see, yesterday when I passed by your home to see her, she acted really strange. I even thought it was because I hadn’t made time to see her yet. You weren’t around, she said. She seemed lost the whole time. It was a pretty awkward conversation… 

Rick: Really?

Yaa: O yes bro! And you know she always calls me ‘girlfriend’! She didn’t call me that yesterday! And that was strange. She looked tensed, and couldn’t really chat with me. Hmm then the accident was really impactful! It’s like her personality has changed, to me!

Rick listened on as his sister spoke. Ana returned and was dishing out another bowl of porridge again. Rick soon got done over the phone with his sister and was thinking through everything. 

Ana felt his gaze upon her.

 “Why?” She asked as she lifted up her head and their eyes met. 

“Nothing” Rick replied. In silence they ate.

“Ana….. Did Mercy pass by yesterday?” Rick asked after a while. 

“Uhmm…ooo… yes. Sorry. I forgot to tell you… She did”

“Okay…..what of Yaa? Did Yaa pass by too?” Rick asked her again. 

“Yaa? Ooooo…. that I dunno. I mean. It was only your sister who passed by to see me. And we spoke briefly.

Rick started to get confused.
