“1…2…3…” they counted

“28…29…30…” they negotiated

My King and my Savior for 30 pieces traded

30 pieces for his wholeness

30 pieces for my hopelessness

30 pieces for his life

30 pieces to end my fight

 *****

The King, the Savior; the Creator

Became a slave, the Lamb and my Mediator

For my sinful nature he went all the way to Golgotha

The worth of His betrayal?

30 pieces of silver

 *****

For 30 pieces of silver

He became flesh to bear my sin-stench

For 30 pieces of silver

He became dirt so he might save me: His elect

For 30 pieces of silver

He became rejected and cursed

That my penalty He may reverse

For 30 pieces of silver

He became a wretch and an outcast

To bring me under Grace and Mercy’s cast

 *****

For I was at best like those pieces

Perhaps broken, fragmented; sin-birthed pieces

Yet for me he out poured his mercies

Stooping low He exchanged His wholeness for my pieces

By His sacrifice and brokenness

I have been redeemed and made his righteousness

******

Yes! I am worth His sacrifice!

Yes! I am worth His love!

I look into the mirror of His Word

And I no more see the past worthless pieces of me

What I behold now is “Christ in me!

The hope of eternal glory!”
