Diagnostic investigations which were quickly carried out revealed that Lisa had been pregnant.

“Uh? What? What are you talking about? Miscarriage? You mean… You mean my wife was pregnant?” Dennis now was so shocked.

“Yes she was! But she’s lost it due to the impact from the fall, we suppose. Very sorry Sir”

“Miscarriage? No! It can’t be, no!” He groaned hitting his fisted hand so hard against the wall. He felt like blaming himself for all that had happened.

“Doc for 5 years we’ve waited! 5 good years! I didn’t know she was pregnant!”

The doctor who was now empathetic reassured him. He then went back in to check on Lisa.

Dennis felt so hopeless. How would his wife feel when she wakes up to know she’s miscarried? Will she blame him? So many thoughts were running through his mind.

He soberly he prayed asking for God’s help. “Father… Please help us! ”

After a short while Lisa regained consciousness. Wondering where she was, the nurses reassured her and let her know that she was at the hospital. Dennis was informed and then he was allowed to go in to see her.

“Lisa… Honey…” He hugged her. “I’m so sorry dear… I’m really sorry” he looked into her eyes and hugged her again.

Tears rolled down Lisa’s cheeks, and she couldn’t even utter a word. The nurses who were looking on with concern just gave them some privacy.

Lisa quickly reached for the medical record folder and opened to see what the doctor had written. Dennis looked on helplessly  since he didn’t even know how to break the news to her.

She got to know from the doctor’s notes that she had been 6 weeks pregnant but had suffered a miscarriage due to the staircase accident and had been booked for vacuum aspiration.

She couldn’t believe her eyes. She looked so shocked to the bone. “Miscarriage?” She turned to look at her husband. “I was pregnant? I was actually pregnant?”

She looked so horrified and shocked.

“O God! What is happening? Why do you keep giving me the bread of sorrow? Why’s my joy stolen? Why’s everything losing its balance?” she lamented in tears.

Dennis could understand her. He was feeling same. He tried to hold her tight again, but she didn’t allow this time. She looked aggrieved.

“I want be left alone!” she said. “Please I want be left alone”

“Alright…” said Dennis as he left the room feeling sorry.
